Planning your stay should be as relaxing as the trip itself. Here are answers to some of the questions we’re asked most often – so you can arrive informed, confident, and ready to unwind.
Bunaken Island is just off the coast of Manado in North Sulawesi. Direct flights operate from Singapore, Jakarta and Bali, as well as other national and international destinations, into Manado Sam Ratulangi airport.
Your transfer to the resort is extremely straight forward. When you exit the arrivals hall, there will be a member of staff (who will accompany you to the resort) with your name on a board and our logo on a board. There is a car journey of about 35-40 minutes to the marina, followed by a similar length boat ride to the resort.
No, you don’t need to be an experienced diver. In fact, around 1/3 of our guests are non-divers, with many preferring to snorkel instead, or simply relax by the pool and enjoy the atmosphere.
Our on-dite 5* PADI centre provides courses from Discover Scuba Diving to Dive Master, as well as including a full technical diving facility offering TDI and PADI tech diving courses, including trimix and CCR training and support.
Yes, at Oasis we welcome both divers and non-divers. Around 1/3 of our guests are non-divers, with many preferring to snorkel instead, or simply relax by the pool and enjoy the atmosphere. We also offer a wide range of activities such as Ocean Safaris, Village Tours and Sunset Cruises.
Whilst we do not have any special facitlities for small children, we do have two cottages suitable for families with children.
Children are welcome to snorkel with their parents from our dive boats and we provide children’s life jackets.
Once children are 8, they can enjoy a BubbleMaker course in the pool, and, when they turn 10, they can take their Junior Open Water course.
For younger guests, we offer in-cottage babysitting while the parents are either diving or snorkelling.
Wifi is available through the resort. Should there be a break in the service, we also have 4G dongles available at reception.
Oasis is a very relaxed resort.
We recommend flip-flops or sandals when walking around, beachwear that is suitable for snorkelling, diving or lying by the pool.
We ask that guests wear shorts and t-shirt or a loose top/dress over beachwear in the restaurant and bar.
Evenings are not formal. The weather is quite consistent and coats/cardigans are not usually required. Shorts/trousers and light shirts or t-shirts are recommended for men, and light summer wear recommended for women.
If you are prone to feeling cold after diving, you may want to pack a lightweight jacket.
As we offer complimentary house laundry, your don’t need to bring too many changes of clothing.
We supply organic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and body lotion, as well as having a range of amenities on offer in the boutique.
If you don’t want to bring your dive kit, we offer a full range of rental equipment.
For underwater photographers, if your strobes use AA or AAA batteries, we have a supply of them available in our camera room, so you can save some weight in your luggage. All we ask is for a small donation to our Oasis Foundation to support the local high school.
All of our packages are full board and include 3 meals per day, as well as snacks available in the lobby in the afternoon.
Ethical Oasis:
At Bunaken Oasis, our commitment to the island is as deep as the waters that surround it. We believe true luxury lies in harmony with nature and community, which is why we have pioneered ethical initiatives designed to protect the fragile beauty of Bunaken and empower the people who call it home.
Sustainability is woven into our infrastructure through innovative water filtration and the first blackwater treatment system on the island.
Through our active collaboration with The No Trash Triangle Initiative (NTTI) and adherence to Green Fins best practices, we are dedicated to eliminating plastic waste and protecting our delicate coral reefs for future generations.
Bunaken Oasis was also the first resort in the area to be awarded the PADI Eco-Resort accolade.
We are honoured to be recognised as an ethical leader, operating with a philosophy that goes beyond conservation to active contribution to the local community. By providing local scholarships, dive guide training, and using sustainably sourced materials, we maintain a seamless connection between world-class hospitality and responsible stewardship.
“As the first recipient of the Facilitator for Nature Tourism permit, Bunaken Oasis offers an experience where luxury and ethical responsibility meet in the heart of a protected marine park.”

Hovering at the edge of Bunaken’s reef top, it looks like paradise. Step over the ledge, however, and the world completely changes.
Beyond 40 meters, the reef unveils its hidden side with giant black coral trees, quiet caverns, and pelagics cruising the deep ocean currents. Every meter deeper feels like unlocking a secret chapter of the ocean that few ever get to read. 💙

If you look closely beneath the sunlit canopy of a mangrove forest, a quiet miracle takes place every single morning.
In the sheltered waters held between tangled roots, young fish, and tiny marine creatures spend their earliest days hidden safely away from open ocean predators. It is nature`s ultimate nursery, quiet, and teeming with new life.
When we protect mangrove forests, we are not just saving trees. We are safeguarding the future of the entire marine food chain.
