A Vision of
Excellence

Bunaken Oasis was created to establish a new standard for dive resorts, combining exceptional diving with genuine luxury, professional operations, and environmental responsibility. International recognition, including being named World’s Leading Dive Resort (2025), reflects the success of this vision. The resort continues to operate according to the same principles on which it was founded.

Built from a Love
of the Sea

Founded in 2016 from a love of the ocean and a passion for conservation, Bunaken Oasis was created to redefine diving in North Sulawesi. It began as a personal vision – to offer an exceptional experience without compromising on comfort or the environment for divers and non-divers alike. Oasis is now established as Indonesia’s leading diving resort, having won this category of the World Travel Awards for the last eight years. Every element, from our PADI-certified dive centre to our elevated fresh-water infinity pool, was built to create harmony between indulgence and nature.

Protecting what makes Bunaken exceptional.

The future of Bunaken Oasis depends on the preservation of the marine environment that surrounds it. The resort operates with a clear commitment to environmental responsibility and supports conservation initiatives that protect the reef system and its biodiversity. This approach ensures that guests experience a marine environment of exceptional quality, both today and tomorrow.

  • Zero tolerance of single-use plastics
  • Up to 97% of our team members are from the local islands
  • 0% use of plastic bottles. On-site water makers and an infrastructure designed for potable water throughout.
  • 100% treatment of blackwater in an underground biological system.

Protecting the Reef

We’re privileged to call the Bunaken National Park home – and with that comes a responsibility to protect it. All of our diving and snorkelling activities follow a strict no-touch, no-anchor policy. Our dive team is trained in marine awareness and actively participates in coral monitoring, debris cleanups, and reef rehabilitation projects. We also support local conservation groups and contribute to research initiatives focused on protecting Bunaken’s diverse marine species. When you dive with us, you’re not just exploring a reef – you’re helping protect it for the future.

Guests are requested to bring reef-safe sun products.  For those who cannot bring them, we offer a range for sale in the boutique.

Local First

Community is central to everything we do. Over 97% of our team is Indonesian, many from villages right here on the island. We invest in their training, education, and wellbeing – because a stronger team means a stronger impact. Our menus feature fresh ingredients from local farmers and fishers, supporting sustainable livelihoods and reducing our carbon footprint. We also partner with local artisans for furnishings and spa products, keeping our sourcing ethical, traceable, and close to home. When you stay with us, you directly support the people who make this place so special.

Recognised for Excellence

We’re proud to be recognised by some of the world’s leading travel and diving organisations. These awards reflect our commitment to exceptional service, sustainable practices, and unforgettable experiences.

Instead of the long, thin, and spiny antennae you see on other crustaceans, slipper lobsters have evolved short, broad, flat plates on their heads. These thick plates are what give them their flattened, "slipper-like" appearance, and they use them almost like shields for defense and tools for foraging along the sand.

Immersed in absolute serenity we raise our colors with unparalleled pride. As Indonesia celebrates its 81st Independence Day we chose the silent grandeur of the deep to honor our great republic. Watching the Red and White unfurl beneath the gentle waves evokes a powerful sense of nationality, an elegant reminder of our unity and sovereign strength.

As a special glimpse behind the curtain we are proud to share that the graceful figures performing this tribute are our esteemed team members.
